Toray Sets Up New 75 KTPA ABS Plant in Malaysia

Toray group announced on Tuesday that the group had raised the production capacity of its renowned TOYOLAC Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS) by setting up a new production facility in Prai Industrial Park, Penang, Malaysia.

The new Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene plant in Malaysia has increased the Toray’s production capacity of ABS by 75,000 tonnes per year to 4,97,000 tonnes per year.

The TOYOLAC product has diverse range of ABS products including transparent grades which offers anti-static, scratch and chemical prices resistance properties.

In order to boost its sales in the key Chinese and Southeast Asia markets and in anticipation of the rising demand from Europe, US and India, Toray is looking forward towards raising its ABS production capacity further at Toray Plastics Malaysia.

Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS) is a thermoplastic copolymer containing Styrene, Butadiene, and Acrylonitrile. Products manufactured from ABS resin have properties such as colourability, dimensional stability, toughness, and temperature and scratch resistance.

ABS has several end use industries including automotive, construction, electronics, consumer goods and appliances. The demand of Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene is rising globally due to the rising demand of automotive industry as ABS is used in every area of automobile. The demand is also set to rise due to growth in the demand of other end use industries including construction and electronics etc.

Acrylonitrile market follows divergent trends across the globe

The market for Acrylonitrile has been depicting contrasting trends at different latitudes on account of distinct upstream cost and downstream demand in different territories. Acrylonitrile, produced from ammoxidation of propylene, is the upstream for ABS and Acrylic fibres. Agilyx Partners with Kumho Petrochemical on Chemical Recycling Plant in South Korea

 Agilyx Corp. which is a major plastic recycling company in the United States, has announced a partnership with Kumho Petrochemical which is a manufacturer of synthetic rubber in South korea to develop and construct a chemical recycling facility in South Korea. The project will be using Agilyx’s unique and novel chemical recycling technology for the production of pure Styrene from post use Polystyrene price . The Styrene obtained from recycling will be used as virgin equivalent raw material to produce Solution Styrene Butadiene Rubber (SSBR) which is a major component for manufacturing tires.
